Nirmala Sitharaman To Present Union Budget 2019-20 On July 5

New finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2019-20 during the budget session of the Parliament.

The budget session of Parliament is likely to be held from June 17 to July 26, in which the Union Budget for 2019-20 will be presented on July 5. Nirmala Sitharaman, who has been appointed as the finance minister in the new Modi government, will present the budget.

The interim budget for the year 2019-20 was presented by then Finance Minister Piyush Goyal on Feb. 1, 2019. He has now taken charge of the commerce and industry ministry, in addition to the railways ministry.

The dates of the budget session were discussed at the first cabinet meeting of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government which was sworn in on Thursday.

Union Cabinet Allocation

On Friday, the newly sworn-in cabinet ministers of the Narendra Modi govenrment were allocated their portfolios, Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah has taken charge of the Ministry of Home Affairs from Rajnath Singh, who is now the defence minister. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is the new external affairs minister while Nitin Gadkari will continue as the transport minister.
