Formalisation Bigger Challenge For Job Creation Than Automation, Teamlease Says

Teamlease said that the IT sector is likely to grow by 15-16% and the need for staffing will remain there.

Formalisation of jobs is a bigger challenge towards employment creation than impact of automation in India, Rituparna Chakraborty, co-founder of employment services provider Teamlease Services Ltd., told BloombergQuint.

She sees sectors like retail, fast-moving consumer goods, construction gradually shifting focus towards formalisation. Technology, financial services, are however, tilted towards automation, she added.

The IT sector is likely to grow by 15-16 percent and the need for staffing will remain there, she said.
