Republicans Pick Up Senate Seat in Indiana

(Bloomberg) -- Republican businessman Mike Braun defeated Democratic Senator Joe Donnelly of Indiana, according to projections from ABC and NBC, a key pickup for the GOP in a state President Donald Trump won by double digits in 2016. .

Braun, a former state legislator, owns an auto parts distribution company and campaigned on a promise to bring an outsider’s perspective to politics. He backs Trump’s agenda and attacked Donnelly’s votes against the $1.5 trillion GOP tax cut and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Donnelly was a prime target of Republicans seeking to keep control of the Senate because Trump won Indiana by 19 percentage points.
