Steve Bannon Returns to Patriot Channel Morning Show on Sirius

(Bloomberg) -- Steve Bannon, chief architect of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, will return to Sirius XM radio’s Patriot Channel and oversee election coverage on the station for his conservative media company Breitbart News Network.

Bannon, 64, will rejoin “Breitbart News Daily” from 6 a.m to 9 a.m. weekdays as part of an expansion of daily and weekend shows for Sirius starting Tuesday. He will lead the channel’s coverage of upcoming midterm elections and the 2020 presidential race.

That could prove crucial to Republican efforts to maintain their majorities in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. Conservative commentators like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh use talk radio to reach millions of listeners, influencing elections across the country. Sirius has 32.2 million subscribers.

After leaving the White House in August, Bannon has led an uprising against mainstream Republicans, supporting primary challengers to almost every GOP senator seeking re-election next year in an effort to depose Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. He’s seeking to change Senate rules to make it harder for the minority party to hold up or block legislation.

As part of that effort, he’s backing Republican Roy Moore in the race for a U.S. Senate seat in Alabama, despite multiple allegations that Moore pursued sexual relationships with teenagers while in his 30s.

“From the moment I left the White House, getting back behind the microphone was very important to me,” Bannon said Tuesday in a statement.
