Announcing forward-looking schemes and a vision plan extending to 2030 in the interim budget is constitutionally improper, according to former finance minister Yashwant Sinha.

The former Bharatiya Janata Party leader told BloombergQuint that the schemes announced in the interim budget targeting farmers and unorganised workers would be difficult to implement and would yield little benefit to the ruling party in the upcoming general election.

Sinha said the question of a strong alternative to the BJP is irrelevant as voters would choose "anybody else but the BJP".

Voters will not bother about who the ultimate leader will be. Let’s not underestimate the Indian voter. He’s not going to be swayed by these temporary handouts and will vote with maturity in the coming elections.
