The U.K. Has Lost Half Its Energy Suppliers

Record power prices in Europe have shaken the once highly competitive British energy retail market. 25 energy retailers in the U.K have ceased trading since August 2021 – almost half of the number of suppliers in the market. Smaller, poorly-hedged retailers were the first to fail, but the collapse of Bulb Energy, with its 1.5 million customers, has led regulators to question the current regulatory setup.
