Former IndiGo President Aditya Ghosh Roped In As CEO Of Oyo Hotels

Hospitality startup Oyo Hotels has appointed former IndiGo president Aditya Ghosh as its chief executive officer for India and South Asia markets with effect from Dec. 1, 2018.

Ghosh’s business acumen, problem-solving capabilities and customer-centric approach to innovation that helped him build an influential brand that is loved by all makes him an excellent choice for Oyo Hotels, Ritesh Agarwal, founder & group chief executive officer of Oyo Hotels, said in a statement. "His ability to deliver growth with large-scale impact whether it is to develop an inclusive culture or in giving back to the society makes him a great addition to the leadership team."

Ghosh resigned as president and whole-time director of InterGlobe Aviation Ltd., the company that runs IndiGo, early this year, after working there for nearly a decade. He was appointed president in August 2008, two years after IndiGo was launched and is credited with making it India’s largest and most profitable airline.

The airline executive’s appointment comes as a part of Oyo’s efforts to expand globally. He will be responsible to oversee and grow Oyo Hotels business in South Asia, which will include, India, Nepal and the other upcoming markets in the region. He will report directly to Agarwal.

“What excites me the most about Oyo Hotels is the company’s single-minded focus to deliver value to customers and asset owners,” Ghosh was quoted as saying in the statement. “To achieve that, we need to continue to foster a culture that attracts the best and brightest minds, and I am very proud to have been given a chance to partner in this effort.”

The appointment comes two months after Oyo raised $1 billion to fund expansion into China and other global regions. It's already present in about seven countries with access to over 500 plus cities and 330,000 rooms.
