Facebook Building Evacuated After Bomb Threat, Police Say

(Bloomberg) -- Facebook Inc. has cleared employees to return to work, after police earlier evacuated buildings at its Silicon Valley headquarters in response to a bomb threat.

A bomb threat unit searched a building in the 200 block of Jefferson Drive of Menlo Park, police said in a statement. The headquarters of Facebook-owned Instagram is on that block.

“Late this afternoon, we received a bomb threat and took swift action to evacuate several buildings at our Menlo Park campus. We take the safety and security of our people at Facebook extremely seriously and are glad that everyone is safe,” said Genevieve Grdina, a spokeswoman for the company. “We are working closely with local authorities to investigate this threat and further monitor the situation.”
