(Bloomberg) -- Consumer gadgets will drop down the ranks of lithium-ion battery users in coming years. Not because they won’t need the power -- they will -- but because they’ll be overtaken by an onslaught of electric vehicles and, toward 2030, by stationary storage for wind and solar power, according to Bloomberg NEF. By then, roughly eight out of every 10 batteries sold annually will find their way into a passenger electric vehicle, and 55 percent of all new car sales will be electric by 2040, BNEF says.
