Ethiopia Rejects Call for Additional Mediators on Hydro Dam
(Bloomberg) -- Ethiopia’s government rejected calls by neighboring Sudan and Egypt to involve international mediators in a dispute over a hydropower dam being built on the main tributary of the Nile River.
Ethiopia wants talks being led by the African Union to be allowed to conclude, the Foreign Ministry said in an emailed statement Wednesday.
“The tendency to invite various parties as mediators to the issue while the African Union-led negotiation has not been finalized is demeaning the efforts of the African Union,” it said.
