Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has rolled out its app-based electric taxi service Glyd in a market dominated by Uber Technologies Inc. and homegrown Ola.

Glyd, which will be available in Mumbai, has a fleet of 10 electric cars—e-Veritos—owned by Meru Cabs. The carmaker is currently offering its services only in Bandra-Kurla Complex, one of the business hubs in the country’s financial capital.

“This is our unique step to drive positive change towards a smart, sustainable and experiential daily commute,” Pawan Goenka, managing director at M&M said.

“Going forward, we plan to launch multiple e-mobility solutions, across cities.”

The company said it will offer features like private screen, air purifier, strain-free lighting, bolstered seats, wrap-around headrest and custom-designed armrests.

Glyd has partnered with Cisco Systems and Vodafone Idea for in-car connectivity and content. It is also planning to enter in cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune.
