That's thanks to voice command-operated digital assistants like Apple’s Siri and HomePod, Microsoft’s Cortana, Amazon’s Alexa and Google's Allo. Want to book a movie ticket? Done. Call a family member while your hands are tied up? Easy.

And while so far digital assistants depend on users initiating these conversations, tech companies are now aiming to get digital assistants to think for themselves and help you complete tasks before you can even ask.
