The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India released subscription data for October 2021. Here are the key highlights:
Industry gross subscriber base remained flat with a marginal growth of 0.3 million (versus a steep decline of 20.7 million in September 2021) to 1,166 million. Growth in active subscribers too remained flat at 0.8 million to 996 million (versus 3.9 million additions in September 2021).
While active subscribers for both Bharti Airtel Ltd./Vodafone Idea Ltd. declined by 0.8 million/1.4 million to reach 346 million/234 million, Reliance Jio’s subscriber addition pace declined to 3.1 million (versus 4.7 million/4.1 million in Sept 2021/August 2021).
RJio continues to lead, with an active subscriber share of 36% versus 34.7% for Bharti Airtel. Total visitor location register for RJio improved by 390 bps to 84.03% in Oct-21.
