ICICI Securities Report

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has released monthly data on subscribers for April 2021.

Industry-active subs rose 3.4 million with Bharti Airtel Ltd.’s net add at 2.6 million; Reliance Jio’s net add decelerated to 3.5 million subs despite aggressive offer on JioPhone.

Industrywide mobile broadband subs adds stood at 5.1 million with fewer adds for Airtel at 2.2 million.

Airtel’s MBB subs market share rose 16 basis points to 28.6% on active basis, while RJio’s improved 23 basis points to 50.2%.

Mobile number portability has dip slightly, but remains elevated at 9.7 million with MNP churn rate at 0.8%.
