Nirmal Bang Report
We hosted an online zoom meeting with Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board member Satpal Garg.
We believe that the market has gone overboard in assuming a reduced threat to city gas distribution companies post open access from oil marketing companies – predicated on PNGRB’s new CGD open access code notified in late November -2020 (barring existing fuel retail outlets already selling compressed natural gas for CGD entities) being used to sell CNG volume offered under open access.
In the meeting, the regulator clarified that OMCs are free to sell Bio-CNG made from their new compressed biogas projects in geographical areas even post open access coming into effect.
