India Volatility Index At Lowest Since Start Of Covid, But Pace Of Vaccination Needs To Speed Up: Nirmal Bang

In the first fortnight of June 2021, active Covid-19 cases and deaths continued to decline over the preceding fortnight.

Active cases were down by ~55% while Covid-19 deaths were down by 23.8% from the previous fortnight.

The incremental number of fully vaccinated (two doses) people was up by 25.4% from the previous fortnight compared to a 75.9% decline previously.

However, vaccination is still far from reaching critical mass.

As of June 20, 2021, only 3.8% of the population was fully vaccinated while 16.8% of the population had received at least one dose.

Mobility indicators improved across the board as lockdown restrictions eased.
