India Economy Update - Many Indicators Cross Pre-Pandemic Levels; But Sequential Momentum Slowing: Nirmal Bang

Early data for August 2021 indicate that 81.3% of the indicators were in the positive territory on YoY basis, same as in July 2021.
Final data for July 2021 indicate that 80% of the indicators were in the positive territory.
Nearly 63% of the indicators are above pre-pandemic levels. However, on a sequential basis, the momentum is slowing, with only 46.9% of the indicators in positive territory in August 2021, down from 65.6% in July 2021 and 72.7% in June 2021.
Final data for July-21 indicate that 66% of the indicators were in the positive territory.
Both, urban and rural unemployment inched up in August 2021.
