ICICI Securities: India’s Daily Fliers Weekly Average Touches 75,000

Weekly average daily fliers came in at 38,000 / 60,000 / 68,000 / 66,000 / 65,000 / 68,000 / 66,000 / 65,000 / 69,000 / 75,000 in first / second / thirrd /fourth/fifth/sixth /seventh / eighth / nineth / tenth week respectively post the resumption of domestic air travel from May 25, 2020 versus 391 average daily fliers in the months of May-June-July 2019.

The number of fliers per departure increased to 90 in the week ending August 1, 2020 versus 81 in the week ending July 25, 2020. Average departures increased from 783 per day to 833 per day for the same period.

These are early trends and should improve going ahead at a rate that would depend upon the trajectory of Covid-19 impact.

Since the resumption of domestic air travel, number of departures per day has averaged at 727, which is 26% of the average number of daily departures registered in May-June-July 2019.
