HDFC Securities: Banking Sector Update - Collection Efficiency, A Positive Surprise

HDFC Securities Report

HDFC Securities’ overall universe reported negligible slippages at just 62 basis points and an 11.2/4.8% YoY/QoQ decline in reported Gross Non-Performing Assets, they stood at 8%.

Most banks reported a significant improvement in collection efficiency (most banks reported a collection efficiency of 90%+).

However, such disclosures lacked consistency in terms of (1) calculation (inclusion of overdues in the denominator), and (2) the reporting period.
