Economic Data Preview - February CPI Inflation Seen At 5%, January IIP Likely To Contract: Nirmal Bang

Consumer Price Index inflation for February is likely to rise to 5% from 4.1% in January, mainly driven by higher fuel prices.

Food and beverage inflation is likely to come in at 4.18%, up from 2.60% in January on account of rise in prices of milk and edible oils.

Wholesale Price Index inflation is likely to rise to 3.9% in February versus 2.03% in January.

The index of industrial production may decline by 0.5% YoY in January after rising 1% YoY in December on a higher base.

The current account surplus is expected to narrow sharply to $0.88 billion (0.1% of gross domestic product) in Q3 FY21 from a surplus of $15.5 billion (2.4% of GDP) in Q2 FY21 on account of a higher trade deficit.
