Discom Liquidity Infusion Scheme Eases Systemic Stress, Says ICICI Securities

With sanctions totalling Rs 1.18 trillion (including Rs 490 billion under Ujjwal Doscom Assurance Yojana limit relaxation), and Rs 451 billion already disbursed (including Rs 157 billion under UDAY limit relaxation), the Power Finance Corporation/ Rural Electrification Corporation scheme to infuse liquidity into state discoms has helped ease systemic stress further and reduce overdues (which touched Rs 1.3 trillion by November 2020) by December- 2020-end.

Disbursals for key stressed states including Tamil Nadu (Rs 111 billion) and Jammu and Kashmir (Rs 27 billion) helped alleviate concerns about mounting receivables for Central Public Sector Enterprises, particularly NTPC Ltd..
