As per latest data from Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, both construction as well as awarding activity have moderated this year, with November 2021 also showing no sign of a pick-up.

MoRTH had stepped up its efforts to increase investments in the road sector in FY21 to help revive the economy post the pandemic. It ended up awarding 10,965 kilo metres of roads in FY21, up 23% and a total of 13,327 kms of roads were constructed, which was up 30%.

However, FY22 has consistently seen a decline in both awarding as well as construction activities.

For the April-November 2021 period, cumulative road awarding stood at 5,578kms, down 18% YoY whereas road construction is down 18% YoY at 5,118kms.

For Nov-21, total road awards stood at 665kms while road construction stood at 668kms.
