Munoz's bullet-riddled body and car were found in a remote area near San Bartolo Actopan in the state of Mexico near the borders of Hidalgo state, which is said to have one of the highest murder rates in Mexico.

"Narcos" season four is said to be exploring the origins of Mexico's infamous Juarez cartel just as the first three seasons focused on Colombia's drug cartels. The first two seasons tracked the rise and fall of Medellin cartel led by Pablo Escobar, and the third focussed on the Cali cartel.
