M&M Unveils The Marazzo To Regain Share In Utility Vehicles
Mahindra & Mahindra unveiled the Marazzo today as it tries to recover lost market share in the category.
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. unveiled the Marazzo multi-utility vehicle as India’s largest maker of SUVs and MUVs aims to recover lost market share in the category.
The Marazzo will be priced starting Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), taking on Toyota’s Innova (Rs 14.06 lakh) and Maruti Suzuki Ltd.’s Ertiga (Rs 6.34 lakh).
Engineered in Detroit and designed by an in-house team in collaboration with its subsidiary Pininfarina, Italy, the seven-eight seater vehicle was produced at the company’s plant in Chennai, M&M said in a statement. It will be available in four variants and six colours.
“Marazzo is a defining moment in the automotive journey of Mahindra not only within India but globally as well,” Chairman Anand Mahindra said in the statement.
More than one in four cars sold in India is a utility vehicle as, with rising incomes, buyers move beyond small cars. M&M, however, lost share to Maruti Suzuki, India's largest carmaker that has the best-selling Vitara Brezza compact SUV in its portfolio.
The Marazzo’s four-cylinder engine produces 90.2kW (121 BHP) power and 300 Nm torque, which the company said is the highest in the segment. It comes with disc brakes on all four wheels, dual front airbags, an emergency call feature, anti-lock breaking system and child seat mounts in all its variants, the statement said, adding that it meets the safety regulations of October 2020.
