IPL 2019 Schedule Announced, CSK v RCB in Opener

The dates for the first two weeks of the 2019 Indian Premier League have been announced by the organisers, with defending champions Chennai Super Kings playing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opener on 23 March in Chennai.

The schedule for only the first 17 matches however have been announced so far with all teams playing a minimum of four matches but Delhi and Bangalore playing five each. Every team will play a minimum of two home and two away games, with Delhi playing three home matches and Bangalore getting three away games.

The official release however also said that the scheduled was subject to change once the Lok Sabha elections dates are announced.

"Once these ( Lok Sabha 2019 election dates) have been released BCCI will address any issues with the first two weeks and will also prepare a schedule for the remainder of the season working with the local authorities around the polling dates.” the statement read.

While the weekends will have double-headers but the schedule doesn't clarify whether the BCCI will continue with the usual 4pm (afternoon) and 8 pm (evening) format or there will be a change in timing.

  • 29 March: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals (Hyderabad)
  • 30 March: Kings XI Punjab vs Mumbai Indians (Afternoon game in Mohali) and Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders (Evening game in Delhi)
  • 31 March: Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royals Challengers Bangalore (Afternoon game in Hyderabad) and Chennai Super Kings vs Rajasthan Royals (Evening game in Chennai)
  • 1 April: Kings XI Punjab vs Delhi Capitals (Mohali)
