(Bloomberg) -- The world’s largest book fair will take place in October in Germany’s financial capital despite the coronavirus pandemic, the organizers said Wednesday.

The announcement comes as Europe’s largest economy is only just beginning to ease restrictions on sporting, leisure and cultural events that the spread of the virus has slowed.

The event will take place Oct. 14-18 at the Frankfurt fair grounds, an off-center city location and online, the organizers said in a statement.

“This year it’s more important than ever to carry out the Frankfurt Book Fair,” said Juergen Boos, director of the event.

The book fair is the largest of its kind and has been functioning for over 70 years. Last year it attracted more than 300,000 visitors.

A detailed health and hygiene plan is to ensure the security of visitors, participants, and employees, the organizers said. The number of people allowed to enter will depend on the size of the exhibit, which is yet to be confirmed.
