On this season’s final episode of Travel Genius, hosts Nikki Ekstein and Mark Ellwood talk everything Africa: recommendations, ideas, and firsthand tips (Mark has a soft spot for Rwandair, since he flew the airline last month to go gorilla and chimp watching in central Africa).

Our guest this week also has suggestions for making the most of the continent, its range of cuisine, and varied cultures: Andrew Zimmern, the chef and host of the TV show Bizarre Foods. As one of the most recognizable personalities on the Travel Channel, Zimmern has spent more than a decade crisscrossing the world sampling delicacies—both appetizing and intimidating. He’s even published his first children’s book, AZ and the Lost City of Ophir. Zimmern shares everything from how to pick the best place to eat in an unfamiliar city (a process he’s dubbed “the hot dog rule”) to the secret Paris rooftop that he says offers the best possible view of the City of Light.

We’ll be back with another season of Travel Genius soon, and we won’t stop gathering the best tricks and hacks while we’re on hiatus. Please keep calling us to leave your travel tips on our dedicated hotline (646 324-3490), or tweet @nikkiekstein and @markjellwood.
