Harley Davidson is celebrating its 115th anniversary in style with the launch of four new softail motorcycles in India which will be available in a few weeks.
The Harley Davidson family welcomes the 2018 edition of the Fat Boy, Street Bob, Fat Bob and the Heritage Classic.
The all new Harley motorcycles comes with the Milwaukee-Eight 107 V-twin engine, which make them 10 percent faster from 0-60 kmph. The bikes have some incremental cosmetic upgrades and sport a much light frame altogether.
The iconic cruiser and the same one used in the movie Terminator 2: Judgement Day by Arnold Schwarzenegger comes to us in an all new ripped avatar. It’s looking much bolder and muscular thanks to the satin-chrome finish.
The new Fat Boy comes with a 1,746cc Milwaukee-Eight 107 V-twin engine with a 6-speed gearbox capable of delivering 147 Nm of peak torque at 3,000 rpm.
The bike now comes with fewer components, which makes it 16kg lighter than its previous variant.
One of Harley Davidson’s best-selling motorcycles, the Heritage Classic, also sees a lot of visual changes with its new 2018 variant. Like the other two, the Heritage Classic also gets a monoshock and a V-twin Milwaukee-Eight engine.
The windscreen is now detachable and the saddlebags are water-resistant and lockable. Lesser components make the Heritage 17kg lighter. It also comes with standard cruise control and ABS.
The Showa fork on the Heritage Classic reduces weight and provides more comfort, better control and improved handling. It also comes with under seat socket adjustment to adjust the rear passenger seat.
The Heritage Classic has been priced at Rs 18,99,000 in India and is Harley’s most expensive offering.
Another ‘Fat’ offering in the 2018 lineup. This is the Fat Bob, which looks more muscular and meaner than before. The headlights now have a rectangular design with dual-LED lights.
The bike welcomes a 2-1-2 upswept performance exhaust with a custom finish that not only looks meaner, but accentuates the muscular look of the Bob. Performance again is similar to that of the Fat Boy.
The bike comes with a 13.2 litre petrol tank and 43 mm inverted cartridge style front forks. The bike also offers easily adjustable rear shock pre-load settings and external hand adjustment knob.
The Fat Bob 2018 edition has been priced at Rs 13,99,000.
And then there is the new Street Bob. This is a head turner wherever it goes. With the same ape handlebars and the spartan look, comes a barebones look and a bobber design.
It also gets a monoshock in the rear and the same Showa dual bending valve in the front. The bike is now 7kg lighter and is the most economical offering in the softail lineup.
The Street Bob is priced at Rs 11,99,000.
The new 2018 lineup also brings to the table new instrumentation and cluster panel, keyless ignition, security system standard, steering head mounted USB charge port and new fuel tanks.
