Who Framed Roger Stone? His Instagram Account Demands an Answer

(Bloomberg) -- It was a busy day for Roger Stone. The Republican political operative and self-described dirty trickster was arrested at his Florida home in a pre-dawn raid, charged with making false statements to Congress, witness tampering and obstructing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

But Stone, or a supporter, still had time to pose a question on his Instagram account: Who framed Roger Stone? The image with it mimics a poster for the 1988 film “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” with a portrait of Stone in place of the animated white mammal in red overalls.

“We must fight for Roger Stone ... now more than ever,” the caption says. “If they can do this to Roger ... they are coming for us next!”

The social-media post called Mueller’s tactics “straight out of the gestapo’s playbook” and urged Stone’s followers to donate to his legal defense fund. A few hours later, the account bore another photo, this one hawking black T-shirts that say ROGER STONE DID NOTHING WRONG. The proceeds will go to defend Stone “against the deep state hit squad,” it said.

Stone will have to compete with Jerome Corsi, who says he fears being charged by Mueller and who started his own legal defense funds, raising $19,754 of a $50,000 goal through donorbox.com and $28,688 of a $250,000 goal on gofundme.com. Maria Butina, an admitted Russian agent, has a legal expense fund at mariabutinafund.com, which doesn’t indicate how much she has raised.

Roger Rabbit was framed by Toontown’s despicable Judge Doom.
