West Bengal Exit Polls

Exit polls are offering a mixed picture in the all important state of West Bengal, where the Bharatiya Janata Party is attempting to take power from Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress.

The Axis My India Exit Poll telecast by India Today is forecasting a very tight race in the state. It projects Mamata Banerjee, who has been in power for 10 years, to win between 130 and 156 seats out of the 292 polled, while the BJP has its nose ahead by an inch, seen winning between 134 and 160 seats. The Left Front, which governed the state for an uninterrupted 34 years until 2011, is projected to possibly draw a blank in its alliance with the Congress, or win 2 seats at the most as per this survey.

The Republic CNX Exit Poll is projecting the BJP winning between 138 and 148 seats in the 294 member assembly. That survey sees the current ruling party in the state dropping to between 128 and 138 seats. The Left-Congress combine is being projected to win between 11 and 21 seats as per this poll.

The CVoter Exit Poll used by Times Now and ABP News meanwhile projects Mamata Banerjee forming a government in West Bengal for the third time, and estimates her party winning 158 seats, with the BJP seen at 115 seats.

Kerala Exit Polls

The Axis My India Exit Poll shown by India Today TV is projecting a landslide victory for sitting Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Left Democratic Front. This survey expects the LDF to improve its performance to 104 to 120 seats in the 140-member assembly. The Congress-led United Democratic Front is seen winning only 20-36 seats in this exit poll. The BJP had upped its campaigning game in Kerala, but is projected to win a maximum of 2 seats.

The CNX Exit Poll is projecting a victory for the LDF as well, but by a closer margin. This survey, telecast on Republic TV, sees the CPI(M)-led left front winning between 72 and 80 seats, with the UDF lagging at 58-64 seats.

Tamil Nadu Exit Polls

Leading exit polls are projecting a landslide victory for the MK Stalin-led Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam after the party spent the last 10 years in opposition to the AIADMK's two-term government.

The Axis My India Exit Poll by India Today TV shows the DMK-led alliance winning between 175 and 195 seats, with the AIADMK-BJP combine seen in the 38-54 range.

The CNX Exit Poll broadcast by Republic TV expects Stalin's DMK to bag 160-170 seats in the 234-seat state assembly. The AIADMK led by EK Palaniswami and the NDA are expected to fall to 58-68 seats.

Assam Exit Polls

The Axis My India Exit Poll carried by India Today TV shows the BJP retaining power in Assam. That survey estimates the incumbent winning 75-85 seats, while the Congress is seeing getting 40-50 seats.

The CNX Exit Poll shown by Republic TV expects BJP to win in Assam as well, giving it 74-84 seats, with the Congress in the same 40-50 range.

The CVoter Exit Poll shown by Times Now and ABP News expects the BJP to drop seats but retain power in Assam, winning 65 seats, just above the half-way mark in the 126-member assembly. The Congress is projected as improving its performance from 2016, seen winning 59 seats.

A New Era For Tamil Nadu Politics

Results to the 2021 elections in Tamil Nadu will offer the first glimplse of voter sentiment at the in the assembly level follwing the deaths of AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa in 2016, and DMK supremo M Karunadhi in 2018. The AIADMK under Chief Minister EK Palaniswamy has since formally joined the National Democratic Alliance led nationally by the BJP, while MK Stalin took over the leadership of the DMK following his father's death.


BJP Looks To End Mamata Banerjee's 10-Year Run

The Bharatiya Janata Party posted its best ever performance in West Bengal in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections 23 months back, winning 18 of the state's 42 seats and garnering 40% of votes. Ever since, the party has stepped up its game in the state, aiming to unseat the Trinamool Congress government led by Mamata Banerjee, who won power from the Left Front first in 2011.
