U.S. Opens Investigation Into Death of Capitol Police Officer

The Justice Department opened an investigation into the death of the police officer who was fighting off the violent mob that laid siege to the Capitol, Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen said.

The officer with the U.S. Capitol Police, Brian D. Sicknick, died from injuries he suffered during the riot at the Capitol on Wednesday.

“The FBI and Metropolitan Police Department will jointly investigate the case and the Department of Justice will spare no resources in investigating and holding accountable those responsible,” Rosen said in a statement on Friday morning.
