U.K. Government, Parliament Given Zoom Warning, Guardian Reports

(Bloomberg) --

The U.K. government and parliament were told by intelligence agencies last week not to use Zoom for confidential business, over concerns it may be vulnerable to Chinese surveillance, The Guardian reported on Friday, citing parliamentary and Whitehall sources.

Parliament was advised last week by the National Cyber Security Centre that Zoom “should only be used for public business”, according to The Guardian. Senior people in parliament were told Zoom is safe to use for public business, and it was used this week as part of proceedings in the House of Commons, the newspaper also said.

Zoom was approached for comment but did not respond ahead of publication, according to the Guardian.
