Twitter Reinstates JD Vance’s Campaign Account After Error

Twitter Suspends JD Vance’s Senate Campaign Press Account

Twitter Inc. said it has reinstated the campaign press account of Republican Senate hopeful and venture capitalist JD Vance after briefly suspending it in error on Tuesday, drawing outrage from the candidate.

Vance, who has been making provocative statements calling on the U.S. to reject Afghan refugees and on other issues, posted an “account suspended” message Tuesday and then a note about two hours later that “this account is back online after being SHUT DOWN by Twitter with zero warning or explanation.”

A spokesperson for Twitter said in a statement that the account was suspended for violating its impersonation policy in error and that the enforcement has been reversed and the account reinstated.

Vance is one of several Ohio Republicans running in 2022 for the seat being vacated by retiring Republican Senator Rob Portman in a primary race already defined by which candidate can show the most fealty to former President Donald Trump as they vie for his endorsement.

Vance, who rose to fame as the author of “Hillbilly Elegy” and is a partner and co-founder of Narya Capital Management LLC, has the backing of tech billionaire Peter Thiel but has called for breaking up big technology monopolies and accused them of censoring conservatives.
