Trump Will Host Google's Pichai for Tech, Social Media Summit
(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump will be joined by Google Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai for a White House meeting with social media and technology companies, said White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow.
Kudlow told reporters Tuesday on the White House lawn that the administration hopes Facebook Inc. and Twitter Inc. also will be represented at the conference. No date has yet been set but the meeting will probably be some time in mid-October, he said.
Prominent Republicans including Trump have accused Facebook, Twitter and Alphabet Inc.’s Google of silencing conservative voices and news sources. Alphabet Inc. has denied that it makes content decisions based on politics.
Kudlow met with Pichai on Friday. He told reporters Tuesday that he had “a great meeting” with the CEO.
Pichai drew the ire of senators for failing to send a top executive to a hearing earlier this month and has agreed to appear at another session on Capitol Hill.
