Trump Set to Attend College Football Title Game in New Orleans

(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump is scheduled to attend the college football national championship game between Louisiana State University and Clemson University on Jan. 13 in New Orleans, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Trump has attended a number of prominent recent sporting events, including a World Series game in Washington in October; a mixed martial arts bout in New York and the University of Alabama-LSU football game in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in November; and the Army-Navy football game in Philadelphia in December.

After he was loudly booed at the World Series, crowd reaction made headlines at subsequent events. Trump received a warmer reception at the New York fight and at both football games.

Clemson is the defending College Football Playoff national champion but LSU is slightly favored by oddsmakers in this year’s title game. Both teams went undefeated in the regular season. They each have nicknamed their home stadiums “Death Valley” and they also share the tiger as a mascot, leading to the game being dubbed the “Tiger Bowl.”

White House communications staff declined to immediately comment.
