(Bloomberg) -- Donald Trump told reporters he’s “the least racist person” as fallout continues from a vulgar remark about immigrants from Africa and Haiti attributed to the president following a meeting with lawmakers last week.

Trump spoke briefly with reporters at his Florida golf club before having dinner Sunday night with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Republican of California.

The president said he and McCarthy would discuss negotiations on immigration legislation, and added that “there are a lot of sticking points.”

The pair were meeting as lawmakers must pass a stopgap spending bill to avoid a government shutdown as current spending law runs through Jan. 19.
