Trump Organization Must End Cohen Document Review by July 5

Trump Organization Has Until July 5 for Cohen Document Review

(Bloomberg) -- The Trump Organization has until July 5 to complete its review of the last of the 4 million files seized by the FBI from Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former lawyer and personal fixer.

U.S. District Judge Kimba Wood denied the organization’s request to give it until July 11 to finish the review. The organization had sought the extension, saying it had received 22,000 documents on June 20, and additional audio files and documents two days later.

The U.S. responded that an extension to July 5 would give the firm enough time to recommend what materials should be protected by attorney-client privilege. Cohen sued April 13 to try to block prosecutors from looking at privileged communications. Trump and his company, the Trump Organization, quickly joined in the suit.

Federal prosecutors in Manhattan are investigating Cohen’s business and financial dealings. A retired judge has helped Wood determine what materials prosecutors could use in building a possible case against Cohen.

The case is In the Matter of Search Warrants Executed on April 9, 2018, 18-mj-3161, Southern District of New York (Manhattan).
