Sweden’s PM Wants Swift and Complete Probe Into Iran Plane Crash

(Bloomberg) -- Sweden’s Prime Minister Stefan Lofven is demanding a full investigation amid allegations that the Ukrainian passenger plane that crashed in Iran might have been hit by an Iranian missile.

Lofven spoke late on Thursday with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau after Canada obtained indications that Iran was behind the incident, according to a statement. At least 10 Swedish nationals died in the plane crash.

“We agreed that this information further increases the need for a swift, complete and transparent investigation,” Lofven said.

“We also agreed that the affected countries must be given the opportunity to contribute with national expertise and be given complete insight into the investigation,” he said.

Lofven said he has spoken with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, and the two have agreed to work closely in the investigation.
