Scottish Conservatives Name Jackson Carlaw as New Leader

(Bloomberg) --

The Scottish Conservative party named Jackson Carlaw as its new leader, replacing Ruth Davidson who stepped down from the role in August.

Carlaw, 60, has been acting as interim leader and was seen as the favourite to take over from Davidson.

The new leader, chosen by party members, will be tasked with preparing Scotland’s second-largest party for Scottish parliamentary elections next year. Recent opinion polls suggest the pro-independence Scottish National Party is on course to win a fourth successive term in government.
