No Egg on Scott Morrison's Face as Protester’s Missile Fails to Crack

(Bloomberg) -- Prime Minister Scott Morrison shrugged off the perils of the Australian election campaign trail when a protester’s bid to smash an egg on his head failed.

The female protester threw the egg from short range while Morrison was meeting with Country Women’s Association members in the rural center of Albury. The projectile appeared to bounce off the back of the prime minister’s head unbroken, and media filmed the protester being wrestled away by authorities. The 24-year-old was later charged with assault.

An apparently relaxed Morrison, 50, declined to comment to a reporter about the egging attempt shortly after it occurred. He later tweeted that he would stand up to “cowardly activists” and was more concerned about an elderly lady who was knocked off her feet.

His conservative government narrowly trails the main opposition Labor party in opinion polls ahead of the May 18 election.
