New Democracy Maintains Steady Lead Over Syriza in Greek Poll

(Bloomberg) -- Greece’s main opposition New Democracy party would win elections if they were held now, according to a Metron Analysis poll for To Vima newspaper.

Some 28.4 percent of respondents said they would vote for New Democracy, a conservative party, compared with 19.2 percent who would cast a vote for the governing leftist Syriza party, according to the poll. The far right Golden Dawn party came third with 6.9 percent.

The only other parties to get more the 3 percent threshold required to return lawmakers to parliament were Movement for Change, with 5.4 percent, and the Communist Party of Greece, with 4.7 percent. The number who were undecided or wouldn’t answer was 11.4 percent.

Metron surveyed 1,204 people between Jan. 25 and Jan. 30. To Vima didn’t publish the margin of error.
