Steps Taken To Make India A Manufacturing Hub

India intends to invest Rs 20 lakh crore in the next 5-6 years in the field of electronic manufacturing, Union Minister for Electronics and I.T., Ravi Shankar Prasad told media persons during the cabinet briefing.

“The endeavor is also to provide jobs to 25 lakh people,” he added. Some of the steps taken in this regard were:

PLI - Production Linked Incentive: Global corporations will be given incentives of 4-6 percent on the quantum of investments that they make in India. “This incentive is linked to your production investment in India,” Prasad said. The government will contribute Rs 40,995 crore towards this initiative.

Government To Invest Rs 3,400 Crore For New AYUSH Centres

The Government will invest a total of Rs 3,400 crore for establishing 12,500 wellness centers across the country.

Out of the 12,500 - 10,000 of them will come under the ministry of AYUSH while the other 2,500 will be sub-centers under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Cabinet Briefing To Begin Shortly

Cabinet ministers Prakash Javadekar, Ravi Shankar Prasad, DV Sadananda Gowda and Mansukh Mandaviya will brief the media on the decisions taken by the Union Cabinet at 3 p.m.

With the total number of Coronavirus cases in India rising to 271, the focus will be on whether any sort of stimulus measures are announced by the cabinet.
