Lesotho Prime Minister Thomas Thabane to Step Down on Wednesday

(Bloomberg) -- Lesotho Prime Minister Thomas Thabane will step down on Wednesday, ending months of speculation about his departure amid a murder case in which he has been implicated.

The announcement was made on national television by Thabo Thakalekoala, Thabane’s private secretary. He will be replaced by Moeketsi Majoro, Thakalekoala said.

Thabane has been under pressure to resign after being implicated in the murder of his former wife. His current spouse, Maesaiah, has been charged with the death of Lipolelo Thabane, who was shot in June 2017. Thabane has denied any involvement.
