Larry Hogan Won't Challenge Trump in 2020, Wash Post Reports

(Bloomberg) -- Maryland Governor Larry Hogan will not challenge Donald Trump for the 2020 Republican presidential nomination, the Washington Post reported on Saturday.

The second-term governor had considered a primary run as a traditional GOP alternative to the president.

“I’m not going to be a candidate for president in 2020,” Hogan told the newspaper in an interview.

Former Ohio Governor John Kasich, who ended his 2016 quest for the nomination three months before the convention, hasn’t ruled out another run, tweeting on Friday that "while the path looks tough, all of my options are on the table." He tweeted after saying on CNN “there is no path right now for me. I don’t see a way to get there.”

Former Massachusetts Republican Governor William Weld has already announced his bid to challenge Trump. Weld Friday penned a column in USA Today Friday on why he’s "a pro-choice Republican."
