The Karnataka Assembly failed to meet the 1:30 p.m. deadline set by Governor for Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy to prove his majority.

Congress leader Siddaramaiah said that the trust vote debate is likely to continue to Monday.

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy asked the Speaker that he has to decide whether the Governor can set a deadline for him (1:30 p.m. today) to prove a majority, citing a Supreme Court verdict that the Governor cannot act as ombudsman of Legislature.

However, the speaker then said that the matter will have to be decided by the chief minister since the letter was addressed to him.
