Iraqi Parliament Votes to End Foreign Troop Presence After Soleimani Killing

(Bloomberg) -- Iraq’s parliament asked the government to work toward ending the presence of foreign forces in its territory, SkyNews Arabia reported.

Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi had earlier told the parliament that his preferred option to fix relations with the U.S. and others was the “urgent” withdrawal of foreign troops.

The other option would be to restrict the role of foreign troops to fighting Islamic State militants and training Iraqi forces, he said at an emergency session of parliament on Sunday.
