IMF Suggests Brexit Trade Talks Should be Extended

(Bloomberg) --

The U.K. and the European Union would be “wise not to add more” to the uncertainty from the coronavirus by refusing to extend the deadline of their Brexit trade deal negotiations, the head of the International Monetary Fund told the BBC.

”It is tough as it is,” IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said. “Let’s not make it any tougher.”

The EU and the U.K. said on Wednesday they will seek “tangible progress” by June in negotiations over their future relationship after the coronavirus pandemic forced the two sides to put the talks on hold.
