A Top Democrat Says House Timetable for Return to Washington Is Uncertain

(Bloomberg) -- House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told fellow Democrats Monday there is no timetable for them to return to Washington for votes on the next coronavirus bill or other legislation, according to members and officials who participated in a caucus-wide call.

Democratic House members are being asked to send their suggestions for the a new virus response package to House leaders and committee chairmen by Friday, one official said.

The timetable means that there will be no draft legislation released this week, though Democrats already have been outlining some of what they want it to contain.

The Senate reconvened in Washington on Monday, mostly to deal with some of President Donald Trump’s nominees.
