Group Captain Varun Singh, Lone Survivor Of Dec. 8 IAF Chopper Crash, Succumbs To Injuries
Group Captain Varun Singh, the lone survivor of Dec. 8 Indian Air Force helicopter crash that killed India's first chief of defence staff, succumbed to injuries.
"IAF is deeply saddened to inform the passing away of braveheart Group Captain Varun Singh, who succumbed this morning," the Indian Air Force tweeted on Wednesday.
Group Captain Singh was on life support at Military Hospital, Wellington for injuries sustained in the crash near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu in the Nilgiris. With his death, all 14 onboard the Mi 17 V5 helicopter have died.
India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others were confirmed dead on Dec. 8
General Rawat was on his way to Wellington from the Sulur IAF station in Tamil Nadu.
