France Expresses ‘Solidarity’ With Netherlands Over Cyberattacks

(Bloomberg) -- France expressed “its full solidarity” with the Netherlands and Britain over recent cyber attacks that have been blamed on Russia, but didn’t announce any measures of it own.

The Netherlands Thursday expelled four Russian agents over what it said was a cyber attack on the The Hague-based Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons that it foiled with British help. Later Thursday, the U.S. accused seven Russian nationals of attacks against a variety of institutions.

“In cyberspace, as in other domains, international law applies and nations are expected to respect it,” the French Foreign Ministry said in a statement released late Thursday.
